Vintage Baseball Glove Forum

I have an early 1900's Des Moines Glove Manufacturing Co. split finger 1" web glove that I would like to trade for an equal valued catcher's mitt from the 1890's or early turn of the century. I collect period mitts and like unique! Pictures tell the story on condition of the glove....soft, supple leather, one minor flaw, 1" web is slightly torn attached to index finger, piping slightly frayed. This glove has the company logo branded on the palm...a rearing horse and company name. I have not seen this stamp on other DM gloves. The brass strap button also has the company name and is clean and strong. Glove is a fine specimen. if interested in a trade, please contact me.

The story goes that Jeb Stuart's Horse was the model for the Des Moines company...In my mind only I guess, BUT!!! Might have something down your alley...But, Your Pics ain't loading on my puter... I suspect the government is watching me for some unknown reason. Fell in love with hoss logo when I first saw one. Have three catchers mitts, One is a keeper, but other two???
