Glove wanted - Hank Greenberg

Postby crackofthebat » May 25th, 2006, 6:03 am

Would like to find a Hank Greenberg 1B mitt. As far as I know only OK made a Greenberg mitt. Would like a right hand throw in excellent condition. Would purchase or trade other gloves for it.

Thats going to be a tough one Fred. I don't think I have ever seen one in person. This is off the topic, but what kind of finish coat are you using on your bats these days? I've gone back and forth from spray poly and brush on. I've also tried lacquer and paste wax.

Bat finish

Postby crackofthebat » May 25th, 2006, 6:42 pm

Most of the newer ones I use Krylon's Crystal Clear acrylic finish which is a spray. If it is a black painted finish I use ACE hardware brand black enamel spray. On the real old bats I use Watco Danish Oil Finish. I usually buff with a coat of Pledge Lemon Oil spray. Please email me if you have specific questions and I will try to help.

bat finish

I don't want to stick my nose where is doesn't belong, but I've used Minwax Antique Finishing oil. It's similar to the Danish oil, maybe a little heavier. I've used it for refinishing antiques in the past, so I thought I would try it on bats. One coat leaves a nice finish, multiple coats will enhance the sheen. I've only used it on older bats, but I'm sure it would work on newer lighter color bats as well. Just my 2 cents.
