Wilson A2K gloves?

Postby glovefan » July 27th, 2007, 12:15 am

Hi,
I am interested in purchasing a new wilson A2k baseball glove. Does anyone have experience with these gloves? Are they worth the high retail price of $279.00? I was thinking about the DW5 model made for David Wright. Any opinions on these gloves?
Thanks,

DW5 wilson glove

Postby glovefan » July 27th, 2007, 12:33 am

Or if anyone on this site has a DW5 wilson new or used that they are willing to sell, i might be interested in purchasing it. Or maybe even the a2000 series DW5-BG. What are these gloves like?
Thanks,

I'm currently using an A2K 1955 for the outfield and I love it. I had the 1787 in A2K, but i thought it was too soft for the infield. I currently have the A2000 DW5BG brand new. Not sure what I think about the pattern yet, but for the infield i like the stiffer A2000 leather.

A2K

Thanks!
So you think that the A2k's in general are too soft for the infield or is that just your preference? Thanks for that info. Is your DW5BG as stiff as the pro preferreds or is it in between the A2Ks and the pro pref's.

A2K's

I don't own one, but I may soon. They look really nice. Wilson appears to have raised the bar with the A2K and one more time for 2008 with some very interesting models. I'm liking the A2K 1799, 12.5" open back model. Or a DW5 in a 12"... Made me forget about Pro Preferred & HOH's, even if only for a while. The Kip is soft with an easy break-in... Market driven ballgloves. "Give em' what they ask for & they will be back for more!" Kids today don't have time to pound their gloves... They have "summer reading" to do! - V-Dog
To hell with the expression "You don't really know a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes" How about- "... until you've caught nine innings using his mitt!" A bit more accurate, don't you think?
