Finding the right glove

Postby Tweener510 » October 27th, 2008, 3:07 pm

I played primarily 3B, with a PROS17-IC, last year in college, but moved over to 2B when our starter got injured. This year I moved to SS and picked up a smaller pro200-4JB because of the problems with the PROS17's palm shooting balls out. With the PROS17 I flared out the fingers and had the pocket down the center, really deep, which worked well for that pattern. I broke the PRO200 in with a pocket where my thumb touches my pointer/middle finger and at this point the glove doesn't keep the ball where i want it. When I field a ground ball the ball kind of sits on the ripples in the leather on my palm.

I was thinking a flatter glove would be better, but I don't want to give up any reach with a shorter 2B specific glove. Do you guys (doc?) have any advice on better patterns/webs? Either HOH or A2000 would be ideal. Thanks guys.

with my pro200's i form the pocket righ underneath the web...between the heart of the hide logo and the bottom of the web...with the HOH leather, it takes a while before the desired pocket will form, but be patient, once it is formed it will be an awesome glove

I also have a Pro200 I web and love it. Now that it is almost broke in I feel like the glove just absorbs the ball. Here are pictures of my glove below. It is a 11 1/2 version.
