New PROAK's

Postby Musashi » September 20th, 2008, 5:19 pm

I might have an opportunity to purchase 6 brand new Rawlings PROAK's: 11.5" single-posters, NWT and keychain, black w/ red laces. If there's 6 people out there who are interested, I'll start making arrangements to snap them up. PM or email me if you want one (or five).

Sorry for the delay in posting pics - and thanks again to John for posting the one that was in my phone! Hopefully, John will be doing me a favor later by posting some additional pics of one PROAK that's NWT.

In the meantime, however, here's some pics of another PROAK that came NWOT. I've put a very light coat of Lexol on it, and the "two-tone" effect has evened out considerably. BTW, I was the one who loosened the laces on the fingers...

Hmmm, decisions decisions. I think I like how the glove looks with the suede side has been coated lightly with lexol. It just looks more uniform, also I figured the suede side would show wear/ marks a lot easier too? What places normal would carry lexol?

Oh one other question. What do you use to apply the lexol? It seems like some of the areas like near the patch and some other spots you need something that you can be kinda detailed with?

You should be able to pick up Lexol at most of your larger auto parts places like Pep Boys. Also, shoe/leather repair places usually have it. When applying it, I usually use just a clean rag, but to get into all the nooks (or around the patch), you can apply it with an old toothbrush.

BTW, I've located a total of 8 PROAKs (apparently, 2 more just materialized out of nowhere). All are new, but some could be NWT, while some (like the one shown above) came to me NWOT...

I know some of you have PMed me already. But if everyone who's interested could please drop me a line (or again, as the case might be), I'd like to get a final count, then start making arrangements to get them.

Thanks to John for posting those pics that were stuck in my cell phone! It's amazing how different the glove looks after a light Lexol treatment.

I may be wrong, but I think the suede-ish leather is Rawlings' "dry" black leather, and the leather used for the web and the palm is the "oil-treated" leather... Maybe that explains why a coat of oil evened it out?
