Breaking in New Glove

Postby jdn4891 » September 15th, 2008, 6:00 pm

Ok I know there are lots of methods out there. I'm not looking for a quick fix, I have plenty of time to break them in.
I have a VinciPro black kip leather infield glove, that came with some "conditioner" (looks like petroleum gel) that says to rub it all over the glove and let it sit for 24 hrs. So, I did that last night and put a couple of balls in it, folded it over and put it under my mattress last night.
Today I've just thrown a ball into it a bit. Other than playing catch when I can, which is about twice a week, and throwing a ball into it, what are some other pointers?

Is there any particular substance tat is good to rub into the glove to facilitate the breaking in period?>

Just a light coating of conditioner and catch is the way to go. If you're in a jam the barrel of a bat or a glove mallet work great.

You can use a wooden glove mallet to break it in also. If you don't have one you can also make one using a baseball - drill a hole half way and hammer in a screwdriver. You can now break in your glove while watching TV!

Thanks for the input. So far I've just been throwing a ball into it, which seems to be working well.

Is there any specific type of conditioner that is really good? Or shaving cream, I've heard that a lot.
