Any recommendations for a youth (7-8 yr. old) catchers mitt?

I like the 32" pattern Gold Glove Pro-taper. It may be a little large, but the fastback design will work for a little kids hand. My son used an Easton Youth CM from the Natural series for awhile at the younger ages before picking up the Rawlings GG. Akadema also has a couple of youth mitts that are satisfactory. My son did not like the yourh prodigy-mantis mitt. Something about the way the padding in the thumb made it difficult to squeeze the mitt and catch the ball. Others I sold the mitt to liked it fine. Bottom line, don't run out and spend a bunch of money right now. You will have plenty of opportunity to spend money on baseball gear for your kid when he gets older.

My son is only 10, but he also uses the Gold Glove fast back catcher's glove. He is a little bigger than most kids his age. He is in the process of breaking in the Heart of the Hide Mauer 34 Inch conventional back which I personally think is to big for him but by the time he is done breaking it in the way he likes he will be a few years older and then maybe the size won't be as bad.

When I’m out glove hunting at yard sales and thrift stores I see youth catchers mitts fairly often- some in good shape, others not so good. My suggestion would be, for a kid that age, just getting going at the position, try to find a few second hand mitts to try, without spending a lot of money-they’re out there.

I would imagine you could find a handful that are in decent shape and already broken in for him to use as he learns the position, so you don’t spend a lot on a brand new one that needs breaking in. With the summer winding down, the next several weeks and months might be good glove hunting at second hand stores.

There are also good youth gloves out there real cheap simply because they need a little lace work done, which are always fun to find, fix, and see get used around the neighborhood. I tell people where I find a lot of my gloves, and some tell me they would never set foot in a thrift store or be caught dead at a yard sale.
Give us the gate key. I have no gate key.
Fezzik, tear his arms off. Oh, you mean this gate key!
