Re-lacing Trap-Eze style glove

Postby wjr953 » July 7th, 2008, 10:27 pm

Have any of you ever re-laced a Trap-Eze style glove? If so, how difficult was it? I have a beautiful black Trap-Eze that I want to re-lace with Dodger Blue Rawhide lacing and I need to know if there are any special instructions or things that I should know before I do this. Of course, I will re-lace as I go, replacing old with new, which I always do with gloves that I haven't worked on before. I also use digital camera shots for a point of reference before I begin, and that does make things easier too. I'd like to hear from others that might have done this, and I need to know if you were happy with the finished product. Did it come out as nice as the original? Thanks.

I re-laced a mizuno mod trap using a digicam for refrence. It came our fine...i guess...I think it's my imagination and the fact that I'm anal retentive but it just did not come out as nice as it was originally. Careful with the colored laces. They tend to be really flimsy vs tan or black. I re-laced that mizuno first with red, then I went to tan because it was so much more stiff.

i agree with tuc (not just because we're both from AZ and Dback fans:)

the blue and red laces from tanners are really soft and stretchy compared to the tan, black and chocolate

I have relaced trapeze gloves for customers ,and my own use, in red and blue laces. While I agree that they are not as stiff as the tan or black laces I also have not had any customer complaints about the laces or experienced any laces breaking myself. Not trying to dispute anybodys point of view but I thought I would share my own experiences.

Thanks for all of your input guys. I guess my concern is in taking a beautiful, perfectly laced black glove and screwing it up simply to satisfy an inner desire to create a one of a kind glove. I really think that Dodger Blue rawhide on an all black glove would look really good, but that's just my opinion of course. I've also done my fair share of re-lacing black gloves with Cardinal red, which I also think makes a great combination. Guess the only way to find out is to try it and see how it comes out. I will start on this one next week and post before and after pictures so everyone can see.

Hey hey now, I bleed Blue and hate Orange. But Diamondbacks are right in second in my book.

Edit: So I'm thinking about this. I really wish the Diamondbacks would have a consistent color on their uniforms. I love Diamondback ________. Brown (Dirt and Dust), Yellow/Gold(The sun), Bleached Blond (the hair color of the ASU floozies), or maybe even black with a silver streak like Janet Napolitano hair?

I for one would really appreciate seeinig the pictures. I have a black TrapEze style that I wanted to relace with red laces, but I'm terrified of doing it. I've never relaced a glove, and it is my backup so I'm willing to experiment but I wish I was starting on something simpler. So any photos or tips after you are done would be very welcome. Good luck!
Alas, my glove is better than my game.

This is a great idea for any type of "new" jobs, and for taking photos of stuff that van't be removed before going to the hardware store, auto store, etc.

Let's be sure that we don't consult with Don Imus on this one. He's already in enough trouble already. Guess the Iman must love the taste of boot leather, God knows he's always putting both feet in his mouth.

You know, the bleach blondes with the pink nail polish, pink frosted lipstick and a thick layer of bronzing lotion covering their body?

Very similar to Florida floozie girl but completely different from California floozie.
