Web anchor tearing on new Rawlings....

Postby WMD_172 » June 11th, 2008, 10:12 pm

So I stumbled across this beauty a few weeks ago. I needed a new gamer and decided to get my first pro-preferred (Never been impressed by them).

But, seeing as how Rawlings does not offer the DCT on its custom site and the seller and Rawlings assured only three of this glove (prosdct) was ever made in the sandstone\black, I jumped on.

Now it is two weeks, and one game of catch later and a small tear is developing on the web anchor hole on the outside of the thumb (where the lower of the bars on the web is attatched). It is still very small, and I do not want it to get worse. Is there anything that you guys suggest doing (eg dab of superglue) to make sure the tear does not get bigger

(note: this pic was taken right out of the box, so the tear is not visible)

sorry about that but you should send that back and get a new one or money back. In all honesty the "V" anchor is a sorry idea your web is secured through a single piece of leather, on a mitt the is a double bad idea But on a good note I get all the bad mitts which I relace like a regular glove through the palm and back and make lots of kids happy with pro quality gloves at no cost. seriously you guys think about what is really holding your web in there and It was not a horrible idea in the old tough Horween leather. But todays leather is not the same. Good luck

Thanks!

The only problem I have in sending it back is that they could only replace it with an off-the-shelf model (prosdctb)....which defeats the whole purpose of this find.

Is there a reason so many firstbase mitts continue to use the V anchor?

But anyways, You are saying that the problem could be solved by relacing the web like any other single-post double bar web?

Will this affect the feel and performance at all?

Thanks again
