How rare / hard to find is this glove?

Postby RedSoxFan81 » April 21st, 2008, 2:17 am

Well, I purchased a HOH that I just couldn't pass up. It is a 12" single post web with a closed back design in all black. It was Troy Glaus' game glove around his last year or so with the Angels. The designation on the inside of the pinky finger is PRO-TROY25 . The only other player i've seen in the MLB wearing this same model is Troy Tulowitzki but if his is the same model as I think his is brown in color. A friend of mine wants to buy it off me, but I have had little or no luck finding another so I think i'm gonna have to hang onto it.Just was curious if anyone knew more about this glove/type etc.

I doubt that Tulo is using the PROTROY25 unless he has a SO model thats smaller than 12". I think it is more likely that he is using the Adam Kennedy PROAK2 model in all tan or something like a PRO200-1. The PROTROY25 and PROTROY11 were both models that Glaus had made to his liking which I am pretty sure of. You see this with other models like the DJ2- Jeter, AK- Adam Kennedy, NP2,3,4,5,12 Nefi Perez ect. I guess these glove patterns were popular among other players so Rawlings kept them on. One question I have is if anyone knows if the PROTROY25 is different from the PRO-Y that Miguel Cabrera was using when he was with Rawlings. Doc may have an answer there.

Yeah, I figured Tulowitzki has his own, I mistyped that I meant that he is just using some custom issue conventional back single post web in all brown not the actual TROY 25.I definitely look forward to hearing more info on it.

Troy and our Dec Newsletter

The Rockies program carried a story on some of the Colorado Rockies players gloves. Troy Tulowitzki and Garrett Adams both admitted they had used Rawlings gloves since their Little League days. "Tulo, for instance, is very particular about his gloves. "I've gotten a few that I've sent back to Rawlings right away because they had wrinkles in the leather and stuff like that. I like it smooth in there and my glove to be really wide." He liked tan leather over black also.

You can't get an AK2 from any website. The closest is an NP4.

Yeah, that's what I figured. well maybe I will just have to pass on a rawlings pro shop custom glove. I wanted to replicate Tulowitzki's glove, but if he is using a PRO AK2 guess that's not happening. I just don't get why it says on their that his glove is the NP4 pattern.
