nokona AMG 300 K

Postby quaz95 » April 11th, 2008, 8:16 pm

I have a nokona amg 300 k. Does anybody know how to find out age of nokona gloves of recentness? I know Joe probably has some old catagories, but anybody know the quality or high end? low end? middle of the road type of Glove. It is a single post.
Thanks,
John

The newest edition of Joe's "Catalog Source Book" does include some more modern offerings for Rawlings, Wilson, Mizuno and Nokona.

The run isn't complete, but their are a few Nokona catalogs from the 80's and 90's. The AMG300 pattern (in conventional leather) looks to first appear in 1980, and that also seems to be the first year Nokona began using the "AMG" designation in their glove model numbers.

The first kangaroo AMG300(K) is in the 1988 listings and it is also in the 1996 listings. So it's been made for at least 20 years and possibly right up to today.

The retail price was right up there with their other top-line gloves, within just a few dollars of being their most expensive glove. The 1996 model retailed for $173.50, while their most expensive glove was listed at $187.

So, it was obviously a well-made quality glove- as are most all of the Nokona gloves!

hey bret
thanks for the info. I call joe all the time and ask him about years and things of the such. My hobby is getting expensive, as you know you have one of gloves now. The Nokona has a cut on the back of one of the finger would you know anybody, or sugget anybody that could fix it?

the AMG300 K still in

Postby softball66 » April 12th, 2008, 9:02 am

The AMG "series" is in the 2007 Nokona catalog. It's offered four ways: the plain 300 with open bar web; the AMG300 CW with a modified basket web; the AMG300K, called the Buckaroo (a cowhide front and Kangaroo back) open bar web; AMG300K-CW same as the 300K only with the hide changes.
So, this is a long-running model with hinged heel, a closed-back design in 11 1/2" height. Bret's right about the earlier days intro. Thanks Bret.
Anyone want to guess what the AMG stands for?

A friend of mine just Ordered an Embroidered Nokona AMG 400 Glove.

As for taking a guess what "AMG" stands for I'd say "American Made Glove."
