Rawlings logo's on gloves

Postby bledwett » March 31st, 2008, 9:52 pm

I am new to the board but not to gloves. I am an avid collector of modern gloves mostly rawlings and nokona. I sell and buy on ebay with the name hulkster2005. I am a huge baseball fan and unfornatly a O's fan. Today and last night during the Nationals game, I noticed Tim Hudson and today Jermey Guthrie and rawlings models with the R cirlce logo on the wrist patch of the glove. I love that and wish they would put models out like that. Guthrie's is my favorite because of the trap web which looks different. Any one no where to get a custom with that logo on the wrist? I hate that Rawlings doen't make enough of the top players models. They really drop the ball with that in my opinion. Maybe Doc know more on the wrist logo thanks Jason

"R" in the wrist

Postby BillBethea19 » April 11th, 2008, 8:43 am

If you order through eastbay, the custom glove and then call Bob , aka doc glove on this site he can do it for you. I had one made. I get many gloves fromt he PRO Department at Ralwings as well and they won;t even do it for me but docglove can. Also I have a Japanese model with the "r" patch that I got from one of my clients from Japan. It is slightly different than the american modes. CLick on www.asics.com/jp and then click on the rawlings link and the "r" for you link

Brian,
I can't read japenese and the office doesn't allow language pack install, is there a better link or can you point me where on the page the Rawlings link is? I would like to see the patch.

Order from Doc

Postby BillBethea19 » April 11th, 2008, 3:36 pm

I ordered a camel with navy lacing. I am a Mod-Trap collector. I have like 60 mod traps but what I did not have was the R on the wrist I placed my order then called doc and asked him to specially do the r on th wrist and 4 weeks later it came. I will try and post a pic this weekend.

Bill,

Was the R patch red & white? Or red & gold? Does the wrist have an oval cut-out with the patch underneath or it the R patch just swapped for the square patch?

How do you like the glove? How does it compare to other Rawlings gloves you have?

R patch is standard size and red and white from the one doc glove made me....the japanese onse the r is huge. I do not like the leather from the japan gloves.....actually leather is ok but the padding is very thin.

I will say this doc's gloves have a unique shape to them. I got a camel heart of the hide....totally different than the camel pro preferred. It is not shiny like the pro preferred. It kinda has a suede feel to it. Very supple though. They keep their shape better then the pro preferreds. The padding is a bit thinner. But Doc said you can request extra stiff if you want as well. He is awesome. I will say this the gloves are different than the ones overseas. They are not like the old horween leather feel they are somewhat different. In what way I cannot describe. Maybe the orignal stiffness is not there. The gloves break in alot easier. It also helps that I run a baseball academy so I play catch all day long so it takes me only a few days to break gloves in.

Nonetheless I like the glove and Doc does a great job. You can tell he makes them by hand. I will see if I can poist a pic

I actually have 5 Japanese gloves
2 120th anniversary collector's gloves (click link below)

And 3 others one with the red and gold r and 2 others with a standard rawlings patch but rawlings is in gold.
