Questions regarding Don Morton sports non oil treated gloves

Postby RedSoxFan81 » June 23rd, 2008, 12:14 pm

To the guys that have purchased the non oil treated gloves from ballgloves.com aka don morton sports. I noticed that you all have given great reviews as far as the leather quality. My question was regarding the size of the gloves. Someone on here purchased a the RV23 single post and said it seemed really big, I also heard that someone who purchased the 1000HC said it ran a little big. I'm considering their non oil treated modified trap which I believe is listed as 11.5 but am curious if it's gonna play a little larger like a 11 3/4" ?

I have the PRO-6XTC. I assume that is the model you are asking about.

Mine measures exactly 11.5 inches, but it looks bigger.

Compared to my 11.5 inch Glovesmith Elite, the Rawlings looks huge.

The fingers of the 6XTC are very straight (my glove has never been used). Also, the thumb on the 6XTC is definitely longer than on my Glovesmith.

I had one of the Don Morton "I-web" gloves, but returned it because it was absolutely enormous.

I'm pretty sure the Pro6 XTC has always been a 12incher. I could be wrong of course.

He's talking about the PRO1MTC which is 11.5 not the PRO6XTC which is 12

The only one I tried was the PRO6HF and it felt like 12.5 instead of 12

11.5" mod trap

My HOH modified trapez horween is a true 11.5" ....the reason some of the models seem bigger is because they are old styles and cut differently...the 11.5" modified trap is same as other 11.5" mod traps except in horween.

So it sounds like the PRO 1MTC is true to size which would be 11.5" , I may have to lean towards going with it, because if the 6XTC felt big more like a 12.5" I definitely wouldn't end up using it.

Glove measurements are for "length" - some gloves are wider than others which makes them feel bigger ( well, they ARE bigger). This glove even says wide pattern on the description:

I think the wide pattern might be a plus for me since the glove is going to be used for playing middle infield for softball. My PRO TROY glove is a little on the narrow side through the palm area and is marked 12" on the glove but is just a tad smaller than my A2000 outfield glove that's a 12.5
