Rawlings Web Question/ A-Rod's Gloves

Postby Hrking4675 » June 9th, 2008, 1:13 am

Ok so we already know A-Rod uses the old Robin Ventura personal model with some sort of modified Single Post web with a hinge in it.
I have 2 questions-
1) What is the official/technical name of this web and its number code for the web (im guessing doc might be the only one with this info)
2) I have tried on an RV23B and I think it is absolutely huge. Is it just me or does anyone else think A-ROD must have a massive hand to use the 6HF and this at third? Clearly from those gamer pics from last year his is a 12 1/4, but the one i tried was like a 12 1/2 to 12 3/4.

Enjoy the pics below
First one is Joe Crede's from Cooperstown

Just by seeing pictures of Arod fielding with that glove and the different version selling by don morton the PRORV23B looks absolutely monstrous. I think the bigger (especially the spine of the actual arod version) single post makes it look bigger then what it is. Also the open back looks bigger then any other back I have ever seen.

I would love to get my hands on one especially in tan but I think my hand might not even make the finger stalls.

Exactly. Arod's gamer seems like it is closer to a 12 or even 11 3/4 but the Morton model is an absolute monster. The hand opening is really odd too.

interesting to note that innovative glove designer rawlings would copy the louisville hinged single post. it's usually the other way around (trapeze, basket, i-web)

I don't get it ...

How does a hinged post help if the cross piece is in FRONT of the post? It seems like the web would have a hard time closing against itself ... :?
Yes, I still have my first glove.

we copy it if the player insist on the very same feature reguardless if its worth a hoot!! They call the shots on their person gamers. When David Wells at one time switched to Rawlings alas he changed many more times. we made him the dual hinge from a competitor.

Wow, that one is sweet. Much different than the 08 model because of the difference in Mesh backing. The '08 does not have it all the way to the top and not on the thumb. They have leather wrapped finger tips now.
