Rawlings Pro Preferred Conditioner...

Postby RedSoxFan81 » September 23rd, 2008, 2:27 am

I was wondering if anyone has tried the Rawlings Pro Preferred Conditioner. I believe it was designed so that it wouldn't change the color much on some of the lighter pro preferred gloves. The light camel gloves tend to want to get really dry and rough on the surface as time goes on, so I was debating on trying this stuff out.Anyone ever use it? I can't find any place that carries it? Maybe it's new?

its so new I haven't seen it either ha. I have used the version they first developed, doesn't stain much but have to use it a lot. as it doesn't hang around long. I think its has a water base to keep from staining so bad so evaporates over time. I'm not a Shell oil expert but from my years of being around oil of any kind it will stain!

The latest catalog from Tanner's has large ads and photos for the "new formula" Glovolium, Primo Glove Butter and the Pro-Preferred glove care kit (which consists of two separate bottles- one a cleaner, one a conditioner).

The new Glovolium lists lanolin as an ingredient, so we know what's it that. And we know that lanolin is good stuff! It retails for $1.99.

The Primo Glove Butter lists "imported African shea butter" and alludes to "other emolliants and ingredients" specially selected as being the "best" in their category. (I bet lanolin is one of them). It retails for $14.99. (Hey, what's fifteen bucks when you've spent over $300 for your glove!)

The Pro-Preferred glove care kit, as mentioned, consists of a bottle of cleaner and a bottle of conditioner. No ingredients are listed in the ad. From the description, my guess would be that this is something similar to Lexol cleaner and conditioner, which also touts its "non-staining" properties. (Might even have some lanolin in the mix!) It sells for $9.99.

If buying wholesale from Tanner's, you need to order at least a dozen of each and when you do that the price is 1/2 retail. I suppose that if ten or twelve guys from this forum were interested, I could place an order and pass along the savings to them.

But, I have yet to personally hold in my hands either the Primo or Pro-Preferred products (the new Glovolium came out last year and I have seen that in stores). I'm keeping my eyes open for them in local sporting goods stores to see if I can find out more about their ingredients.
