Restoration

What does a glove lose (or gain) once it has been restored with new liner, laces, finger loops, etc..? It is difficult for me to say because I had the liner changed in my Pro 7, and it came back a different glove with familiar traits. The feel in my hand is different but the catch is the same. Still, it is like a new old glove. Now in terms of value, what are your thougths?

I think you answered your own question ... you get a new, familiar glove. I customized an old glove with new thicker laces and added padding in the palm and index finger, and though it looks the same, it sure doesn't feel the same when I catch with it.

Now as far as value .... Some vintage guys will go ballistic if you even mention changing an original lining, or relacing with thicker than original lacing, or replacing worn and cracked piping on a vintage glove. I can kind of see their point. An antique ceases to be an antique if it is customized.

But if you have a gamer that needs an update, it may be more valuable to you to have it refurbished and customized. Your call, in my opinion.
Yes, I still have my first glove.

I guess your're right. I never feel the same about the glove once it is modified; but, when I wear it, it feels great. What I do miss is the aging of the old leather. Nothing a little catch can't fix.

I can tell you what. On most of the gloves I have sold on Ebay that have been restored, I either break even or loose money! I have done so much better reselling gloves that were orginial. So in my opinion only have it restored if you plan on keeping it.
