Are the new pro preferreds better than the old???

Postby RedSoxFan81 » August 12th, 2008, 1:49 pm

I really like the lightweight feel of these pro preferred gloves, however the 11 3/4" wingtip model I had which was probably from 2002 had that problem some other guys on here had where even once the glove was broke in the palm area remained stiff and would kick any ball out that hit right there. I also know that many guys on this site have shown pics or talked about how poorly these gloves wore over time vs the HOH models. I had my eye on that new 11.5" camel single post conventional back. If not that one maybe one of the new brown/camel models.

all of the 2009 pro preferreds have pittards palm lining. Meaning that they won't crack when you sweat in them, and it the lining doesn't float on top of the glove like in the past.

I have the 11 1/2 single post and love it.

I've felt the dark brown two tone ones and these are great too.

Thanks for the reply Goldy. In your opinion does the 11.5" single post seem right at the same as most 11.5's or a tad towards 11 3/4" . I think I may have to get one of these. My PRO TROY is way broken in, and it is a 12" but plays more like a 12 1/4-12.5, when I play ss and charge a slow chopper sometimes it's a pain in the @$$ to try and get the ball out real quick, same with double plays. I do really like single posts with the conventional back

my 11 1/2 single post feels narrow, since i've flared out the pinky and thumb. Compared to say a modified trap web, this does seem a little bit longer however the single post makes for a fairly shallow pocket so i think it cancels out the length.

Interesting. the 11 3/4" wingtip model pro preferred I had did not seem nearly as wide as the new PRO NP5 11 3/4" glove I just bought. The only other one I was looking at was the 50th anniversary NP2 Pattern all black I web glove. I believe it was an 11.5" .

the 50th anniversary one is the 11 1/4 which coincidentally I also own. This one does seem wide as it's a smaller size than the other ones you referred to.
