Glove Descriptions

Just curious what people want out of a description. I know I usually forget this but when I list a used glove people often want to know what size batting glove I use to measure where the fingers are broken in ect.

Personally I like the short listings that just get to the major wear/ issues with the glove are or anything unique about it and just the major features.

One thing that REALLY gets me for one reason is the term "RARE" and how it just gets thrown around. For example right now there is a run of the mill store HOH up with ''RARE'' all over the auction. Another thing that gets me too (God I wish Rawlings would clear this up because anyone who knows Arod knows what a PRO6HF is) is Arod's designed gloves being advertised as his game model.

Not sure what y'all think, but would anyone like to open an Ebay thread with a sticky on what to post / not to post when listing a glove? I think it could be a useful tool/ guide for glovers (new and old) when they are trying to figure out how to describe their gloves.

don't shower me with all the "+", just point out the "-" so that i can bid accordingly. take pix of the "not so lovely areas".

Not only do I not hide any flaws in my photos but I take close up pictures of the problem areas on my listings. I want to make sure there are no surprises when someone receives of my gloves.

One of the most irritating things on receiving a glove is when you realize they conveniently forgot to show any problems in their pictures or downplay any problems in the description.

For me, both in buying and in selling gloves, pictures are a vital source of information. I also like to be told the negative stuff up front. The descriptions that I've seen are so arbitrary. What is VG to EX for one person is Poor to Fair for another. I also have seen "rare" used an awful lot as a selling incentive, along with "Vintage". Nothing will ever replace a full hands-on examination of a potential purchase. As for the pictures, when I'm selling on eBay, I always try to provide pictures that can be super-sized and maximized. I want the buyer to be able to gather as much information as they possibly can about a glove in which they might have interest.

I try to point out as much of the down side as possible along with pix. Rather someone be pleasantly surprised than over-expecting and getting under-delivered.. I agree with the use of "Rare". Always tends to make me wary. I also keep away from rating a glove. I'm not expert enough to make that call. I only try to point out if the leather is in good condition and the condition of the lacing and patches and then try to let the pictures tell the story. If the bidder wants more, then they can ask a question.
