Cool Photo Discovery

While at the flea market this past Sunday morning I came across a 1916-17 basketball team photo. After examining it I noticed it had a Fordham stamp on the bottom and because the price was right, and the photo displayed well, I went ahead and bought it. After shopping for a few more hours I went home and looked at the photo in more detail. One of the players was wearing a "FP" sweater and I quickly discovered through the wonders of the internet that Fordham Prepatory school was a pipeline to the college. As with most photos I find, if I can identify the school, I always search to see if there could possibly be someone famous pictured. Low and behold it seemed that Frankie Frisch (The Fordham Flash) was in school around this time. I couldn't find any photos of him at Fordham but compared a head shot from his playing days to a gentleman in the photo I thought could be him. This is not a strong suit for me and I knew I was going to biased wanting Frisch to be in the photo. I asked a couple people for their opinion and they agreed that it most likely was Frisch. Needing more concrete evidence, I emailed the librarian at Fordham Prep to see if they had any yearbooks or old photos that could confirm that Frisch was in the photo. Very quickly the archivist for the school got back to me and was very happy to report that it is Frankie Frisch in the photo. They did not have that particular year's photo, but a preceding one with him pictured and named. The archivist also shared a bunch of history of the school during that time period when Frisch was enrolled. Fun stuff!
