does anyone have any good info on vintage catcher's masks that DO NOT use welding. All connections ate bent metal and strange looking connectors / ties.
any idea as to era, availability, maybe even value. I can supply a pic if that would help.
Many thanks in advance.

Carmi,

Most non-weld catchers masks (bird cages and spider masks) date prior to the teens. There are tons of pictures of them in the early manufacturers catalogs in the Glove Collectors Library. They are cool because most of them have patent dates on the straps dating to the early 90's.

The use of those types of fasteners date from the very early days of catcher's masks up to around the teens and 20's on kids masks. Consequently, depending on what it is, the value curve swings from very high to not very much. If you need help posting a pic, you can email it me and I'll do it for you.
