Active players who are HOF locks...

Postby rmiller » December 9th, 2008, 12:16 am

The retirement of Greg Maddux got me thinking. Obviously he is a lock for the HOF. What other players, if any, can you think of who, if they hung 'em up today, would be locks for the Hall of Fame?

Clearly there are many potential guys down the road, but who, if they quit today would be in 5 years from now?
Give us the gate key. I have no gate key.
Fezzik, tear his arms off. Oh, you mean this gate key!

Ivan Rodriguez & Randy Johnson come to mind.

Griffey. His injury-plagued years with the Reds kind of kept him out of the spotlight- and probably prevented him from being the all-time home run leader- but he was regarded as the best player in baseball during the entire decade of the 90's.

Pujols is awesome, but he needs a few more years of dominating numbers before we could consider him a lock.

Don't forget Ichiro. I'd say that he's going to Cooperstown.
