Yom Kippur

Postby robin_buckeye » October 10th, 2008, 3:38 pm

Meant to post this yesterday. Some probably remember when Koufax, who was Jewish, refused to pitch the opening game of the World Series as it fell on Yom Kippur.

Instead Drysdale pitched and got bombed early. When manager Alston went to the mound to pull him, Drysdale said, "I bet right now you wish I was Jewish too!"

Thanks -- I knew that, but I still wrote it wrong -- I guess I've watched "Thomas the Tank Engine and the Flying Kipper" too many times!
