Wm Harridge Reach Baseball

Postby Bubdoggy » May 9th, 2008, 9:07 am

Rummaging around my parents' garage and found an old American League Baseball with William Harridge, President.

I know Harridge was president for almost 30 years (1931-1959 or thereabouts).

Anyone have an idea on how I can determine the approximate decade this baseball is from?

Thanks,
Scott

changes

Scott, I think there were a couple of changes in the ball during WWII for example.
We have a baseball price and information guide you can purchase.

Price guides

Postby Bubdoggy » May 9th, 2008, 1:32 pm

Thanks, I'm figuring out who's who on the board with relation to what I'm seeing on eBay. You also have the glove price guide as well, correct?

Does the baseball price guide have photos to help i.d. variations like I probably have with this ball?

I also picked up a Goldsmith No 97 with its box from a fellow car pooler (trying to fight the gas crunch) who in turn picked it up for a quarter at a neighbor's garage sale.

Based on what I could find out, I think it's from the late '30s since it is pre-MacGregor.

I'll check the guides out. I was probably going to get the glove guide anyway.

Thanks again. Just a neophyte with a love for the game but beginning knowledge on the past.

variations yes

Most of the major league balls are dated by the president's signature but
with variations which we show. There are plenty of other illustrations and
pictures in this book.
And yes, we also sell the glove price guide and a bat price guide as well.
The Goldsmith 97s were the top line Goldsmith ball (remember the old line:good for nine innnings).
Collecting old baseballs can be fun.
