Looks like the wind was blowing out ... HARD!
They took off a couple tenths for his form but at least he nailed the landing.
Time for contacts? (is that the ball five feet to the right of his head?)
Back then, the warning track consisted of some overweight crew-cut guy yelling at you (or not).
