A circa 1936 D&M Joe Cronin model G98 glove sol for $150. The glove is well used but still in fine shape with some great factory stamps in the pocket. A TOTL glove in its day. Hard to find this version with the double laced fingers.

A circa 1912 Spalding catchers mitt and mask sold for $300. The Mitt has the patented reinforced wrist opening. The mask is a "Sun Protecting" model 4-0. The mitt leather is dry and flaking on the front and back. The mask is in better shape and pretty cool.

A circa 1970 MacGregor Willie Mays Personal Model GWM glove sold for $141. It has all the characteristics of a TOTL glove from that period. At first glance it seemed to be a USA made glove but upon closer look the Japan stitching was worn off the cloth patch.

An early 1920's Wilson Walter Johnson model 656 glove sold for $1000. The webbing was available to Wilson's top gloves. The model 656 is not listed in a catalog in that period. The face of the glove is great but the back leaves a lot to be desired. I've never heard of a Wilson Walter Johnson model. It may be a first one found.

An interesting glove on ebay came and went pretty quickly for $26. It features a Rainey web variation you don't often see. The glove is dry as a bone and would benefit with a little TLC.

Some nice gloves…the one I question a bit is that Wilson Walter Johnson. No evidence it ever existed…looks to be fairly worn, but the marking are good and clear? Has this been redone/faked possibly?? I saw it on eBay and also Jared asked my thoughts on it while it was listed. Not sure if Jared picked it up or not, but both of us questioned its authenticity a bit…not saying it isn’t legit, but would like to see it in person. Thinking there’s a possibility it’s not the real deal…anyone else know a lot about Wilson gloves or Walter Johnson having an endorsement deal with them?

The Wilson Walter Johnson glove was originally from Hunt's Nov. 2024 Auction. It sold for $250. I couldn't find a model number 656 is not in a Wilson catalog of the period. A more burning question is how much the Mantle XPGH glove will go for.

Mike,
Is the Mantle XPGH you are referring to the one that listed on ebay yesterday with an opening bid of $500.00? If it is I'm also very curious to see where it goes. I watched that glove in the Memory Lane auction which ended on Jan. 11. It sold for $900.00. The ebay listing even uses the same photos presented in the Memory Lane auction.

Could the model number be 658 on the Walter Johnson, hard to tell if it’s a 6 at the end or not. Or maybe even it’s missing a 4th digit? It’s an odd ball for sure and a curiosity…but I’m still questioning if it’s legit at all, looks a bit like the
Walter Johnson sig may have been added at some point?? Hard to tell without seeing it in person. I just hope someone didn’t get taken on a $1000 ride. I’ve been there and made mistakes myself, hurts!!

Yes Derek, that's the glove. The godfather may have intervened because the listing was taken down. It's a pretty rare glove in awesome condition.

A pretty neat 1930's Reach Sam Hale glove sold for $181. This TOTL glove is well used but still intact with legible markings in the pocket and a great patch on the back. The webbing is innovative for its day.
