Epic Month Ahead!

Postby Yanks23 » October 30th, 2023, 2:03 pm

I can’t wait to see what Mr. Tinney has to say in the Glove of the Month section in November! Are you all as excited as I am? Fingerless pair. Ambi. Duck. Pita. Tornado. Holy smokes!!!

Not to mention all of the fun stuff we saw on JD’s sales list.

I had a feeling this one wasn't going to make far on ebay. It's just too nice. It's a Horace Partridge base mitt in great condition. It has the rare Partridge tag the everyone wants. The mitt is super stylish and looks to be a high end model. Oh yeah, it sold somewhere in the range of $225.

a circa 1910 Tryon catchers mitt sold for $199. The mitt is in good shape. The wrist strap design and patented circular reinforcements at the wrist opening indicate the mitt was made by Peach, a very rare and sought after manufacturer of gloves and mitts from Gloversville NY.

A full size sewn web glove sold for $500. Looks to be in great shape. The buckle back design is from Goldsmith. Originally designed for mitts, very rare to see that buckle back design on a glove. More than likely a high end model.

These are from Hunt's Auction. Prices are before fees.
A Reach Tornado Palm glove sold for $14,000. This auction stalled a few times but kept going up up up. The glove is in marginal condition but the rarity and innovation carried the day. Makes one wonder how much Jerry's righty version is worth now.

A Ted Kennedy pita mitt sold for $8,500. A nice looking mitt from an innovative manufacturer. The mitt was part of the full round series.

A Reach ambidextrous glove sold for $5000. Reach made these in varying quality and price range. This one with the rolled leather piping is one of their best.

Leland's Auction, before fees:
A pristine D&M George Kelly model 659 base mitt sold for $642. A top of the line mitt in its day.

A pair of circa 1890 fingerless gloves sold for $19,527. The gloves show a lot of use but are well made with rolled leather piping and side panels built into the finger stalls. I couldn't place the rectangular pads on the front with a manufacturer.
