A 1950's Wilson Ted Williams model 2030 glove sold for $35. A top glove in its day.

A rare combo of a 1950's Hutch DiMaggio model 53 and matching box sold for $177.

a really nice 1970's Spalding Jim Northrup model 42-2451 sold for $189. The combination of the open back, "Wonder Web" "Wingtip" and lazy S lacing is a winner. I agree with Bob, it's a glove I would also like catch some balls with.

A 1960's NOS Rawlings Mickey Mantle "Big Leaguer" glove sold for $2590

A 1970's Rawlings XFCB glove sold for $79. I like the Bellows Web.

A 1960's Rawlings XPG6 glove sold for $1500. I didn't know Rawlings made an unendorsed model. A great looking glove!

Here's a surprising one. A 1930's Canadian Reach Wright & Ditson "Babe Ruth Home Run Special" glove sold for $170.

A child's sewn web Spalding glove sold for $347. It was listed as canvas backed but who knows.

The glove reminds me of this corduroy backed glove from years ago. You be the judge.

I got this one…had been looking for one of these for quite awhile, if it is corduroy?? Hadn’t seen a Spalding example, but had seen the VWD one referenced here and one more that Brett owns…it would be only the 3rd I’ve seen.

That Spalding appears to have a Canvas back. I have only ever cataloged three corduroy gloves, Jerry's (previous) lefty, Brett's VWD and my Simmons American. Are there any more?

Having been the owner of now Jerry’s glove, I can tell you it was one of the best looking glove I had ever seen

The difference between corduroy and a twill weave canvas is the corduroy is made by cutting through a layer of exposed thread to create a soft tufted look. A twill weave canvas creates diagonal ridges by the way the fabric is woven. A twill weave doesn't involve cutting through a layer of exposed thread. Below is a cut from a 1922 VWD catalog.

Yup…think you nailed it again Mike…was hoping for a corduroy glove since I had been looking for one of the VWDs for about a decade now…thought maybe I had finally found one. So are these canvas backed gloves pretty rare to find as well? I haven’t seen many, but haven’t specifically looked for a “canvas” glove. It’s neat and different for sure, going to just pop it in the Spalding display anyway, even if just a cheap, low quality kids glove.

Thanks Eric. I think the VWD corduroy gloves were only made for a year or two.

The one everyone was watching ended last night. The 1915 Reach 6F fielders mitt sold for $1067. It checked all the boxes; rarity, age, condition and quality.

Another circa 1915 mitt not so closely watched gaveled in at $101. Man, I was tempted because I like catchers mitts a lot and never had this model when I was collecting. But no, I just stayed on the sidelines. It's a big 'ole top of line Reach model with a patented sewn reinforcement at each side of the wrist opening. It was a clever feature that replaced the riveted wrist openings that most always ripped at some point.
