A rare Goldsmith George Burns model 73 glove sold for $200. Great looking glove, snapped up pretty quick, could have sold for more.

An A.J. Reach snap back catchers mitt sold for $109. Another great looking model. The snap back feature goes back to the old Splading Benny Bengough model of the 1920's. George Reach Co. carried it on into the 1940's. I like the trainers tape wrapping on the web.

The Goldsmith easily became one of the top three pieces in my humble collection when it arrived today.

Another slick move by the ballsy one. A nice Spalding 1" sewn web glove sold for a best offer off the selling price of $85. Nice leather, cloth patch and factory markings. easily a $400-$500 glove.

A Spalding sewn full web glove sold for $290. another nice one though not quite up to par conditionwise as the previous model.

A Spalding crescent pad catchers mitt sold for $69. I know it's a lower line model but jeez, the condition! It's as nice as they come! It was only at auction for an hour or so before being scooped up.

Roger that. I only started collecting five years ago, and it feels like a Golden Age, both as to what was listed and pricing. If eBay was as dry and overpriced then as it is now I wouldn't have picked up the hobby.

Here's a few nice top of the line gloves/mitts that didn't get much love.
A Rawlings 1960's model DCT mitt sold for $77.

A 1960's Rawlings Roy Campanella A2400 mitt sold for $80.

A 1960's Rawlings model TTP glove sold for $56.

Who said ebay just has crap? He should be canned! A really sweet top of the line Spalding glove sold for $975. Whenever you see a full web model with heel lacing in that pristine condition, well that's a no brainer purchase, rare, rare, rare. The pocket stamps seem to read "All Players Model" to me with SXL above. Probably wrong but that's my take.

Two similar near mint gloves with the unique Paul Bunyan leather. Someone made a comment earlier about the Paul Bunyan leather being a precursor to the Heart of Hide models. That's ridiculous of course. These two gloves were made between 1967-69 and were mid line models. the leather is distinctive for sure, unlike any other in the Rawlings lineup.
The Tom Tresh model sold for $179 and the Mr. Shortstop model sold for $125.

The Spalding actually says All America model - I sold it at the National last summer. I guess I should have asked more for it.

Thanks for the info Brett. I was looking at the wrong end of the Spalding catalogs. I thought it had to be an early one circa 1912. Turns out it is from the mid 1920's. It's model EC, similar to the Reach Eddie Collins model.

These two D&M gloves changed hands on ebay.

A Wards Heinie Manush glove sold for $160. Many of the Wards gloves were made by Dubow and were top quality using the very best horsehide..

A D&M G40 glove sold for $275. This may be a Walter Johnson glove from the 1930's. The photos weren't conclusive.

A sewn web James Brine "Old Reliable" model glove sold for $225. A great looking glove!

A rare buckle web Winchester catchers mitt sold for $325. Looks to be made by Wilson Sporting Goods. It has seen some use but held up pretty well.

A J.C. Higgins Hans Wagner glove sold for $699. Well worn but seems to be all there.

How did you know the price of the Winchester. I was high bidder when he pulled it? I am smelling something not good.

Here's the link. Yes, original auction cancelled because the seller got an offer he couldn't refuse. The mitt was sold as a buy it now. I found it in completed listings. The buyer was not me Carmi. Sorry you got shut out. I know you like to collect mitts.

not upset about the mitt. It would have sold for more than that bid. It just pisses me off that eBay does nothing in cases like this. And it pisses me off that buyers still try and succeed at this stunt.
