A 1920's Goldsmith "Jake Daubert" base mitt sold for $200. Well used but all there and in decent shape.

A 1950's Sonnett "Double Play" glove sold for $139. Well used but in decent shape with a unique style, legible markings and tag. Not often seen at auction.

Surprising to see this high quality McKinnon glove among a sea of kids models out there. It's a 1940's "Ernie Bonham" model in super condition. I like the web, simple but effective.

A 1960's Sears "Ted Williams" glove and picture box sold for $355. Great looking NOS glove with a unique design. The two piece palm, spoke web, wingtip back and neat fastback style really set this one apart from the multitude of Sears Williams gloves out there. It looks to be all leather, high quality and I personally like the green dyed leather, lacing and grommets.

A mid 60's Rawlings model RL catchers mitt sold for $225. The first iteration of this HOH model is in unused condition. I read from an auction posting that Johnny Bench favored this model. He would order it from Rawlings with the wingtip(DE) back.

Darn it, didn't bid enough on either the Gehringer S&D or Sonnett Double Play! And yes, the McKinnon is a beast compared to most McKinnon gloves out there. Dude who made it probably got fired!

Thanks for your continued efforts on GOM, patents, and other forum feedback, Mike! One of the things I appreciate most about you is that although you've owned/still own some of the nicest and hardest to track down gloves, you still have an appreciate for gloves all over the spectrum (like that green Williams import). Keep up the great work!

I too missed out on the Gehringer S & D. I was hoping all the east coast bidders were sleeping. Flurry of bidding at the end.

A NOS Rawlings "Mickey Mantle" model MMF glove sold for $349. A mid line "Fastback" model. Not real common and rarely in this condition.

A no-name 1920's catchers mitt sold for $200. Decker patent finger guard and rare olive colored leather. It's also in pretty nice shape.

Pretty nice, $99. No "scar" lacing on the back but a cool Elroy Rogers patent shoulder/heel pad on the front.

A Reach "Babe Ruth" model catchers mitt sold for $585. It was in a weird category and may have done better if listed correctly. Only four bids. It's a rare one! The mitt shows a fair amount of wear but is still amazingly intact. The rarity is in the wrist strap. That patent design was approved in 1931 just as the Babe Ruth line of mitts were being phased out. May have been in production for only one year.

My last second bid was just out. I was really hoping to snag this one. I love the wrist strap, I have similar base mitts with this strap and this mitt has been on my list for a while. Kudos to the lucky buyer!

There are plenty out there with that wrist strap but not the RC1 or RC2 Ruth endorsed models.

Hey Mike. You mean catchers mitts? I have one but haven't given it a clean yet to see if there s a model number on there. Do you know of any particular models?
Do you think they made both the RC1 and the RC2 with this strap? Cheers

Yes, the models BP and 33 have the laced wrist strap. The 1931 Reach catalog states the Ruth model RC1 has the "new style wrist strap" and the RC2 as having a standard strap and buckle.
I sold the mitts below a while ago. Both were quality mitts though not top of the line. The early patent pending strap was beefed up on later models.

A neat looking 1940's Spalding Marvel "Joe DIMaggio" "Pro-Form" finger glove sold for $100. I think it is model 233. The lining shows some wear. I do like the one piece face and segmented finger design.

I can't believe I missed both those mitts! The are beautiful! I would have snapped them up in a second.

Thanks for the info Mike and thank you for all your shared knowledge and information on this forum!
