An unused 1960's MacGregor "Willie Mays" model GC12 glove sold for $439. Possibly a blem or factory second. The pocket stamping looks off register. Still, a must have for a Mays glove collector.

I was waiting in the car for my flea market companion this morning. I was perusing ebay on the phone and saw a NOS 1960 Nokona "Don Hoak" glove and picture box. I bookmarked it and made a mental note to check it out more fully when I got back. I saw a lot of Franklin, Louisville Slugger and Easton gloves at the flea. I ended up with a nice Frank Lloyd Wright picture book, Senco nail gun and a Husky precision knife kit. It was a beautiful day to be out and about early. No such luck when I got back and checked out the Hoak glove. It was too nice to hang around long. It sold for about $300.

Sounds like my day at flea market except the only thing I went home with was two whiny kids because there was no Lego to be found either.

Yesterday was a little better for me. While I saw enough gloves to field an entire little league. I only bought three: Mint A2000 XLO, a decent Bench late 60's RL-10, and a beat up Nokona basemitt. I love a project.
I have an entire week to scour all the antique stores with my 19 month old wing man Charlie. Nothing like a good staycation.

A 1930's Dubow "Lou Gehrig" model base mitt sold for $995. This one is great looking! Excellent leather color, lightly used condition, clear, sharp factory markings and wrist protector still intact.

A circa 1900 Reach webless crescent heel glove sold on ebay. Adult sized model with an intact tag. It shows wear and a little damage but Jeez, $735? A couple sold close to 3K recently. This was a "no doubt" webless model with no forefinger seam. How many of those are out there with a manufacturers tag? Probably can be counted on the fingers of one hand.

I'm thinking one of the reasons it didn't go real high is the fact the listing was tough to find...I heard about the glove from another collector and that one was up on eBay, but never found the listing myself, never saw the glove...so assuming it wasn't listed well and probably many others missed it as well...but maybe I'm wrong and I'm I just couldn't find it or over-looked it;).

Nah. The listing was fine. Had the right keywords in the header. And it had plenty of watchers. Clearly the condition scared the high bidders off. Ink all over. Tears. Torn lining. That is what kept the price down, IMO. But for the skilled craftsmen out there, with a new lining and ink clean-up, I'd agree with Mike in that it was a steal relative to the other recent webless sales. Cool to see these pop up. Heck, it's a webless. Even as is it makes for a killer display piece.

A circa 1930 Reach "Sam Hale" glove sold for $500. Well used but all intact and in decent shape. The glove features a nice tag and the trademark wide wrist strap. It's big claim to fame is the patented strap web that extends to the middle finger stall. The glove was expensive in its day and not often seen at auction.
