Best of December 2016

Postby mikesglove » December 9th, 2016, 2:27 pm

I was really hoping to add this empty Rawling's glove box to my collection. I have a near mint GS mitt of that era that would have been perfect. The bidding blew past my limit pretty quickly. The $16.95 price written on the Sisler Rawlings box placed it in the mid 1940's. The auction ended at $288. The box needed some work but was all there.

A stylish 1920's base mitt sold for $85. It is marked "Semi-Pro" on the front and features a partially sewn web. It is in nice shape and to me, a good deal at that price.

A 1925 Spalding three finger glove sold for $545. It is marked "Big League" and is probably model TG. It shows some wear but overall in good shape. Always a popular style.

A sewn web Folsom glove sold for $205. A decent white leather model with a little wear. The factory stamps in the pocket were visible. Its big claim to fame was the tag. First one I have seen.

A Rawlings "Mort Cooper" glove sold for $122. A reissue by Rawlings sometime in the 1990's?

A sewn web Lowe & Campbell "Dave Robertson" glove sold for $180. May be a Wilson made glove. Markings on the face and cloth patch are stellar.

A Wolf brand base mitt sold for $162. A rare brand and tag for sure. The "Steerhide" stamp, webbing, wrist strap color and design seem to indicate another Wilson made glove.

An early '60's Rawling's TMH base mitt sold for $93. It is a Heart of Hide trapper model put out before the DCT model took over in 1962.

A MacGregor model KC1P glove sold for $88. Made in the same period as the Kangaroo hide gloves, this one is a "Prohide" model and apparently not as sought after. It is in flawless condition. You are not going to see many with the orange tag and also made in the USA.

A D&M "Chuck Klein" model G92 glove sold for $350. Really nice bold stamps on the front. I think this model had the D&M cloth patch hidden under the lace wrist strap.

A rare Wilson "Bob Feller" model 900 glove sold for $175. It's missing a tunnel web but those are pretty easy to come by. Markings in the pocket and overall condition is excellent.

This rare Wright & Ditson "Eddie Collins" glove sold for $350. I had a A.J. Reach model of this glove. This W&D brand may have come about when Reach merged with Wright & Ditson around 1929. The glove looks to be in nice shape. I have always liked the W&D tennis player logo on their patch.
