Thanks for posting this one, Mike. "Sturdy" is the word for it. Along with words like "really well made" and "fun to use and display". By the way, does anyone know the cut off point for Nokona cloth labels. I love this old almost burlap-looking one. What was the cut off point for this version of the Nokona label?

Hey Mike, Mike & Murph. I too have four Howard Pollet gloves and since I finally boxed one up, I couldn't quite justify going after a fifth despite loving them. $86 is one great deal on that glove. The Pollet model along with the Joe Jackson Model are probably the biggest and highest quality Nokonas of that time. Those triple stitched gloves are huge and super high quality and are a big reason why I like Nokonas.

Mike J., I have a theory on that tag. Although the Pollet model was probably made until 1952, I think the white one stopped in 1949, at least on this glove. Here's why. The triple stitched splitfinger was at the top of the line in 1949 and those all had white tags (mine do). I have a non-triple stitched or lower line Pollet with a black tag on it. If you look in the catalogs, the mid-line Pollets were from 1950-52. So, I think the black tag, non-triple stitched model started after 1949 or the white tags ended in 1949. What do you guys think?

Thanks for the offer but I don't need one. In fact I am beginning to wonder what I am doing with all this stuff so I took 10 glove and 10 bat which were my favorites and put them in a new display and am thinking about selling the rest.

A white leather 1920's Goldsmith "Charles Hollacher" model 69 sold for $150 on ebay. The cloth patch is good as are the markings in the pocket.

A 1940's Rawlings "Red Rolfe" model RR sold for $675 on ebay. This one has the rolled lace web and seems pretty complete. I like the pre-formed pocket lacing at the heel. I was looking at the heavy woven lace through the web grommets to which the leather lace is wound. That was interesting to me. I checked out Art Kapsapsis' model RR and his is the same technique. Maybe that was the way it was done at the factory. There are Red Rolfe experts on the forum. Maybe they could weigh in.
