Frankie Frisch gloves are pretty tough to find, and impossible in that condition. Surprisingly soft price.

I suppose I was a bit dissapointed but not surprised at the final price. In all honestly, that's kinda why I moved to part with it at this point in time...just seems like the vast majority of endorsed HoF'ers have lost their luster over the past year or so and we, like many others out there, are shifitng a bit in terms of our long held interests.
Anyway, its a great glove and I am sure that whomever won it is going to enjoy as much as we did all this time.

Not to step on anyones toes, but these 2 gloves went for the most part unnoticed perhaps it is just me being a list collector of Goldsmith models but I feel that both of these gloves were steals in a soft market.
First is a pretty much mint example of a Vince DiMaggio ($77), this model was only made for one year (39) and is only the second example I have encountered. The second is a Goldsmith model Pete Reiser JCL (long finger) model.($40 BIN) After talking it over with a few other members this is the only Goldsmith only model JCL that they have seen as well. The JCL is more commonly found mfg. under the MacGregor Goldsmith brand who produced the glove post WWII. ImageImageImage

I noticed the listing for the DiMaggio glove. I was wondering if you were the winner since it seemed like a pretty rare Goldsmith. It seems like a nice glove with the an interesting wrist strap design.

So you're the one beating me to all the unique Goldsmiths, huh, and a Reiser to boot! Congrats, Josh, both are cool oddities. I've always been intrigued by those transition models from Goldsmith to Mac/Goldsmith. Rob

Because I'm getting it from both sides of the spectrum on this issue - if you pick something up and want to share, that is fantastic, but please post it in the "Today I found" section. Thanks

Usually some nice gloves come out of the woodwork around opening day, but this year's been relatively subdued. Then old Tyrus came along. The seller could have helped himself by providing better photos, but it's condition looked pretty good even with the terrible pics. An early 1920's Stall & Dean Ty Cobb 8045 Speed model with decent leather, stampings, lining, piping and patch sold for $4850 on 18 bids. It appears as if it will clean up nicely, as long as the new owner doesn't rub out the endorsement (which has happened before with S&D's delicate stampings). Looks like $5k is a pretty conservative level for Cobb gloves as several have turned over in this area, if not higher, in recent years.

How does it feel? It feels awesome (said in that high pitch voice that many people use when saying awkward)! Yesterday I received my new Jimmy Reese 3 finger that my glove buddy traded me without demanding full king's ransom, a nice top qualilty Macgregor Jackie Lensen (Jensen, but Lensen is how it was listed), and a unique Sutco brand Made in the USA 50s. Only one cream of the crop there but the others are pretty cool for the price, and should clean up even nicer. Today I'm meeting with the props director for the Jackie Robinson movie, where I'm helping them with 35 gloves/mitts and other things. New gloves with some turnover is a hoot!

Cool! My Mom is signed up to be an extra in the Jackie Robinson movie "42". Glad someone will make sure they use the correct gloves!

Mr. Mitt is having technical difficulties with uploading pics so here are a few he wanted put up - I'll let him do the writeup - still heartbroken on the McDonald Wilker.

The winner of this ultra-rare maker, McDonald Wilker, really, really, really wanted it as apparent by his multiple bids to protect himself. That said, the $1495 hammer price was $1200 above the nearest competition. Makes us wonder what he expected from others, as well as how high he was willing to go. Not too many Wilco’s out there, so to find one with a buckle-web is a treat. Looks to be made of heavy leather and of professional quality. The front is in pretty decent condition with the glove’s only problems being a replaced button and worn lining. Cool glove.

Hi Jerry and Brett,

Well I liked that buckle web glove but did not even bid with the competition. I am just glad I already had a buckle web in my collection but this glove was a cool one. Brett wanted it for the Wilco and I wanted it for the funky buckle web. LOL I guess Jerry you wanted it for the combination of web and Wilco. Neat old glove.

Hey Dave... No, I wasn't even a bidder on it. Speculation was it would go for around $750. $1495 may be high, but not even a quarter of the way to an S&D buckle-web fielder's glove! :P

Jerry,

Do you have the S and D Buckleweb that I am thinking you might have? The one I am thinking of is simply outstanding and I was thinking you have it in your collection. It is a real beauty. By the way that S & D on JD's website as I was just there and not noticing it showing up? Maybe, I just overlooked it.

Jerry, sorry for the last post not making any sense. I meant to ask you if you have that S & D buckleweb fielders glove somewhere on JD's website? I may have overlooked it but did not see it.
