That's the one!
A Mantle MM was on my "must have" list and the price was right for me on that one.

The thing that seems odd to me about the stamping in the Ruth glove is how little contrast there would be if the glove was the original color. It contrasts well now that the glove is gray but why have a stamping color almost identical to the glove color? Most white gloves I've seen with color added to the stampings were black or more of a gray-silver. Is it common for the stamping color to be so near white on a white glove?

You bring up a good point. I have a Spalding BB1 and it is dark stamping against the white leather. Wilson may have been different with their stamping. Check the silver stamping on this Wilson model 600 from the same era as the Ruth glove. I got this photo from http://www.baseballglovecollector.com in the Wilson section of the Glove Gallery.

Here's a photo of the other one-inch web Wilson 605 Ruth. It's difficult to see in this photo, but there are remnants of silver remaining in the stampings. Though it may seem odd that the manufacturer wouldn't seek a greater contrast, the color is consistent between the two known examples.

Yeah the nerve he must have to sell that, incredible. He is selling other gloves and autographed baseballs by Pete Rose, i wonder if it is really Joey Cora's autograph?

The very low starting price is the first clue that something is wrong....

The 1920's Spalding "Double Face" glove sold for $870 on ebay. This is the top glove In my 1926 Catalog and is listed as the AAH "Legion" model selling for $10. It is identical to the lefty Reach version recently sold on ebay. The front is really great which is good for displaying and the backside inner lining is pretty worn. The cloth patch is still all there.

A circa 1930's J.C. Higgins "Lou Gehrig" model 1692 sold for $460 on ebay. The mitt is mid level quality but the endorsement and stampings on the front are real clear.

Since he asked for history on the glove, I wrote the seller and explained nicely, that Ruth never endorsed for Goldsmith. Told him it was an extermely common military issue Riddle glove that somebody doctored, and that he should inform potential bidders that it isn't a real Ruth. Well, you can see how well that went. Never heard back and the glove is still up for bids. At least I tried to be the good guy.

Another "Double Palm" model sold for $221 on ebay. This early turn of the century catchers mitt with a grommet web is in super shape. it is large at 11" high and shows no manufacturer. The front has the reinforced sewn pocket and the back has an unusual leather clad buckle at the wrist strap. Pretty cool!

A 1920's Wright-Ditson & Victor catchers mitt sold for $178 on ebay. A mid level quality "Association" model with a mixture of leather and cloth piping. Still, the mitt was well taken care of and has great eye appeal and a vintage look. The cloth patch is in outstanding condition despite its location in the hand opening of the mitt.

A 1920's Wilson model 607 glove sold for a BIN price of $250 on ebay. A black leather 1" web model in decent shape with an intact cloth patch and good inner lining. Looks like the Wilson logo and model number are still clearly evident in the pocket
