A mid 1960 Rawlings XPG12 "Tony Kubek" model sold for $280 on ebay. A really nicely maintained glove made for only a few years. Features the "Lazy S" pocket lacing.

The Rawlings "Big R" glove finally sold for $150. It is in unused condition and has some really striking features but it is an import model and that didn't help it.

A Ken-Wel "George Grantham" model 628 base mitt sold for $33 on ebay. One of Ken-Wel's best gloves circa 1930, just below the Lou Gehrig mitt. Nice cloth patch and stamping in the pocket. A fair amount of ink on the back didn't help the price for the seller.

A NAC brand glove sold for $199 on ebay. The glove is close to near mint and comes with an interesting Wright & Ditson tennis ball box.

A 1920's D&M 1" web model black leather glove sold for $204 on ebay. Glove overall is high quality and in great shape. There is a fair chance it is an endorsed model that the seller missed in the description.

A 1930's D&M catchers mitt sold as a BIN for $550 on ebay. A mid level mitt in average condition with cloth piping and a good cloth patch. not sure where that selling price is coming from even if the mitt happens to be endorsed.

Great stuff Mike. Actually, there was a hiccup in the bidding on the Cobb. It actually went for $12,000.

A very nice early 1900's full web buckle back glove sold for $377 on ebay. No manufacturer markings visible but the glove has a great vintage style and is well made.

Wow that is strange, somebody scratched out Elmer Riddle it looks like and put a Ruth there....some people will do anything to make a few extra bucks I guess.

I emailed the seller early on to let him know that it was a Riddle instead of a Ruth. They actually thanked me but didn't update the description. It's now over $180 with an hour to go. I'm sure I have more Riddles than anybody (not bragging) and am about to invest in a new glove tool:

I also wrote to this guy about it being a Riddle. He thanked me for the info and assured me that his bidders knew what they were bidding on. It just closed at $260. I can't wait to see this guy's Feedback after the buyer receives this fraud of a glove! Also after you get that glove tool from Ebay, can you make me a couple of Shoeless Joe Jackson gloves? :D

On the bright side, I'm guessing that's a new record for an Elmer Riddle.

Fraud. Well, we know about that, even in the glove business.
Short time ago I was contacted about a purported "game used" Joe Dimaggio glove. It was a Nokona wartime glove that had the last name "DiMaggio" scratched into it.
OK.
Problem was that the original owner claimed to be a friend of Joe's and had played with him at Oakland. Say it ain't so Joe. Little quick checking and discovered that the owner
never played minor league ball and Joe never played pro ball in Oakland. Weak premise.

Speaking of Riddles. I bought the only Elmer Riddle box I have ever seen on eBay last year. You could imagine how happy I was. I brought it home from the office. While juggling my keys, briefcase, a binder, the box and something else resting on top, I opened the door and the box fell forward and hit the ground. It landed right on the front corner and blew it out. Here's a box that lasted 65 years in great condition and then I get it for one minute and blow it up.

Oh Rob, cool pic of one quarter of your Riddles.

A circa 1905 Reach crescent pad glove sold for $1027 on ebay. One of the nicer ones in a while. Just a little wear to the front and a really pristine back.

The wording on the Doak box auction was interesting. That was one that I sold at the National - when I got the box it was missing the side flaps on both the bottom piece and the top piece. Dr. William rebuilt the box for me and it came out nice. If I was selling it online I would have taken pictures of the side so potential buyers could have seen the restoration work. Hope the buyer is happy.
