I'll start week two off with a 1910's Stall & Dean one inch web fielder's glove. This has a really nice old patch. Being fairly new (only about a year and a half) to vintage gloves, I am constantly learning more on glove history. I have found myself many times this past week researching the era's some gloves come from and each time all I had to do was pull out John Graham's fantastic book. There is an excellent near mint example of this glove on page 170 of John's book. If you don't have the book, get it.

This glove sold for $132.00.

Tonight we have a Spalding Babe Ruth fielder's glove that took two auctions to sell. The first time it was offered on ebay it ended on Nov. 3 not meeting the reserve price or the buy it now price of $1500.00. The highest bid was $355.00. A potential bidder/buyer aked the seller(who was auctioning it for the owner) what the reserve was. The answer was that the reserve was $1000.00 and if it wasn't met, the owner was considering sending to a live auction.

I guess that didn't happen because it appeared on ebay again this week, with no reserve, and sold today with one bid of $350.00.

Here is a 1950's Rawlings Mickey Mantle MM4 fielder's glove with the box. I had this one on my watch list, because my MM4 could use a box. It ended early on Nov. 9 at 10:35 am PST with no bids at the starting price of $19.99. It was relisted and sold on Nov. 9 at 10:40 PST for a buy it now price of $1,150.00. The buyer was definitely buying just the box, because the glove isn't that special. The auction may have been hard to find for any Mantle searchers due to the auction listing below.

The box has a one inch rip and is slightly crushed in one corner, otherwise it is in pretty good shape.

After clicking on the zero bids on the first listing I now see that. I wonder how high it would have gone if the auction would have run it's course.

Four more gloves tonight, two in one auction. First is a Denkert Model G54 Freddie Maguire fielder's glove. Avery rare Maguire endorsement. It sold for $100.99.

Image

Next is an aution that included a vintage fielder's glove and vintage catcher's mitt. No info on the fielder's glove, but the catcher's mitt is endorsed (very rare) by Al Grabowski. After a little research I found Grabowski had a Sears (J.C. Higgins) model 1648 in 1935. This may or may not be the same mitt. The combo auction sold for $251.00.

Image

A 1920's Edward K. Tryon 1" web finishes this group. This glove is in great shape with a nice patch. It sold for a best offer price of $300.00.
