here is a real nice top of the line "Professional Model" Spalding mitt that garnered $171 on ebay. This mitt is has got a lot of style with the T web. I think this is the same seller who had the dust-up regarding a Roger Maris glove.

This Nokona G33 Bill Hunter glove did not meet it's $60 reserve. I thought this was a pretty cool looking glove. I wonder if Joe would know what all the grommet holes above the wrist opening are used for-ventilation, lacing? I ran across a patent showing lacing running through grommets to cinch up the finger stalls a little more.

Hi All,
I am brand new here, and it's because I bought one of the Ebay-listed gloves that were posted above. The Lee Handley glove. I was wondering how I might best go about learning more about it, so if anyone has any suggestions, please take a peek at the Ebay listing and let me know what you think.
I will try to take better photos and post them as well.
It has Lee Handley in script stamped into the bottom of the gloves palm, written on a downward tilt from left to right. I don't see any tags or other ID on it anywhere.

I would like to find out as much as possible about it. Not for re-sale though, as Lee was a cousin of mine.

Any thoughts or help is very much appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Jason

There is a Lee Handley model put out by Honus Wagner Sporting Goods in 1941. It was one of their more expensive gloves. You could go to the baseballglovecollector.com site and search for a similar glove in their archives. On ebay you may be able to purchase the "2007 vintage baseball glove catalog source book" by Joe Phillips. Or contact him at (972) 699-1808 about purchasing a copy. It is invaluable for player endorsements and manufacturers. Your glove may have been made by another manufacturer such as Spalding, Reach, etc. and sold through the Honus Wagner Co.
good luck, Mike

Re: The answer is. . .

Jason, I got an answer on the Hunter glove grommets from Nocona head man , Robby>>

"Dad said these grommets were used for adjustable finger loops on the
back of the glove.
The idea was that you could place these loops where you needed them.

Dad said we had the first patent on this idea, and just beat Rawlings
with their similar idea.

Later, we started sewing the loops directly to the back, and probably
more so, on catchers mitts."

Hi Joe. I posted the question about the Nokona grommets. Nice you could go right to the source for the explanation. I guess the next stage of this design was the "finger-lok"

First off is a nice Rawlings Warren Spahn XPG3 HOH glove selling for $143 on ebay. Second is a beautiful Ken-Wel Dazzy Vance 560 Pro model that did not meet it's $685 reserve. I love the style on this buckle back model. The Ken-Wel and patent patches are pristine. This glove is too nice not to sell eventually.

Hey Joe, I coudn't for the life of me find the patent for this one. Do you have any idea of the patent date or issue no. Was it a Walter Tompkins Invention for Nokona?
