The Nokona "Riverboat" Smith glove is my favorite "to catch with" glove. Great feeling/fielding leather. Finest in the feel, if you will. It can catch a ping pong ball. I play bounce catch with a tennis ball with it. I have another that is near mint and in my keeper collection. Great, supple black leather and don't you love the white grommets?!!! Way to go Nocona.
Surprisingly the two Doaker types turning up about the same time. What's great about all these gloves listed on glove of the month selling so well is that it shows there's still a market for quality items
and,as we know condition and aesthetics of the glove play a role in the success of the sale.

Another original design 1920's Rawlings "Bill Doak" glove sold for $127 on ebay. A "righty" this time. This one has been well played but still in good shape. Both cloth patches intact but soiled.

A 1920's Stall & Dean "Grover Alexander" Speed model glove sold for $400 on ebay. Endorsement in the pocket and "I use and endorse this model" stamped with a signature along the thumb. nice cloth patch and grommet web.

Circa 1910 William Read & Sons full web glove sold for $880 on ebay. Pristine white buckskin with a great cloth patch on this super rare glove. The buckle strap is missing unfortunately. Calling William! The glove features the 1906 Stall & Dean patented stitched pocket which is still nicely intact.

Circa 1910 Spalding full web glove sold for $180 on ebay. Nice intact felt lining and cloth patch. In good overall shape.

Okay mike this is exactly whAt I'm talking about, god bless the seller for that price....but why? And who the hecks bidding In $4 increments, I don't understand how some extremely common gloves reach such high prices. I bet you i could list ten reach kid catchers mitts in much better condition and not get remotely close to that price, bet not even half! eBay blows my mind sometimes. Funny is that it was under 40 with an hr left and I already thought thAt was to much. Thanks for beating me on the white buckskin read buckle back, beautiful mitt, Im sure William will make it look real purddddy when done. William if u read this, except the zipper back beginning of next week, I'll ship on Saturday.

I thought someone might enjoy the bidding history on the youth catchers mitt. I agree that $30 was about the actual value until things got out of hand with an hour left. As far as the William Read glove, I didn't bid on it. I knew it would get up there in price. I have seen similar gloves and the roller buckle is kind of unique, something William would be good at fixing.

A 1920-30's D&M "George Kelly" base mitt sold for $220 on ebay. Nice cloth patch on the back and strong signature

A 1920-30's National Brand "Walter Johnson" model glove sold for $315 on ebay. Glove is in good shape with a strong endorsement.

A 1930's Goldsmith "Waite Hoyt" glove sold for $250 on ebay. Rare glove is in good shape with a strong endorsement.

Another vintage Bon Tober brand glove box sold for $200 on ebay. This one is for a model G19.

One of the most common gloves in the hobby, but this one is a beauty. A 1940's MW "Joe Gordon" personal model glove sold for $67 on ebay. Features the 1938 patent Denkert finger strap.

A nice 1960's Rawlings "Stan Musial" model SM6 sold for $130 on ebay. Features the highly valued H-web

A really beautiful 1950's Rawlings "Herb Score" personal model HSP sold for $200 on ebay. This is the desirable HOH model and shows a little wear but has a nice vintage patina.

The glove above is not only missing the buckle but it looks as if the remaining strap is a tad short. The William Read glove below shows how the missing strap and buckle might have looked on the ebay glove above. If I'm not mistaken, the metal buckle has a unique little sleeve or roller as part of its quick adjustment/release feature. It was based on a Stall & Dean design.

A lot of three gloves sold for $71 on ebay. Really bad picture taking by the seller may be a great find for the eagle eyed buyer. Of the three, the #3 import glove can be discarded. The #2 lefty buckle back is in decent shape but the last #1 glove, a 1" web KenWel is in good shape with an intact cloth patch and "Never Rip" back panel. It is a rare one and worth a good deal more than the $71 paid for all three. I enhanced the last two ebay photos to show the glove clearly.

I picked up that last lot mike as i had zoomed in on that on noticed as well. Ill take pictures once done with a nice cleaning. check this one out as well that just ended. I was interested in the ken-wel, but after zooming in on that tunnel loop on the left, seems kind of different...whats up with back zig zag looking leather pattern?

Check this one that ended lady week, I forget to post this one, I was curious in the base mitt, however after cleaning the spalding tunnel a very faint Ruth endorsement popped out, it's a reallydirty and is going to take a lot of cleaning.

I thought the lot of three gloves would go to a forum member. I missed the other two auctions you mention so that is real good sleuthing on your part. I think the KenWel glove I pictured above will be a nice one for you. As far as your other auction, the glove on the left with the "zig zag" pattern is actually a seam partially hidden by the folds of the leather. A recent auction of a S&D "Marty Callaghan" has a similar horizontal seam on the back. The KenWel 1" web glove on the right is not to shabby either. A pretty good deal for $50. The Ruth signature turning up after a cleaning of your Spalding glove is something I've hoped for but so far no luck.

Your glove with the horizontal seam piqued my interest because I remember the design being discussed in an earlier post. Your glove is actually based on a 1926 Denkert patent.
