Rare Glove?

Postby vintagebrett » August 17th, 2007, 8:34 am

Last night I picked up a Dib Williams endorsed glove made by Hopkins Sporting Goods Co. in Des Moines, IA. Have never seen a glove endorsed by Dib Williams or one from this company - anyone else? Glove was a in very rough shape upon purchase but is coming along nicely. I'll post pics when it is done.

Before Pics?

Do you have any before pictures? You could have entered it in the 1st Annual Vintage Glove Forum Restoration and Rebuild Contest, as proposed by burker in the General Glove Discussion forum!

"And in the obscure endorsement division of the obscure glove company division, first place goes to ... uh .... who? ... oh yeah, the Dip Wilson ... no? ... oh, Dib Williams glove by .... Hopkins, ... as restored by Vintage Brett! First place wins a year's supply of Lexol!"
Yes, I still have my first glove.

Hopkins Sporting Goods Glove

Postby ebbets55 » August 17th, 2007, 9:36 pm

Brett,

I had a Hopkins glove. I sold it on Ebay for like $24. I should really keep more gloves. I have this annoying little voice in my head that says you can't keep everything. I hate that voice.

Yes, I do remember that glove - thanks Mark. I had a suspicion that this glove was made by Rawlings and now I'm pretty positive it was. Lanolin is drying and hopefully I can snap some pics tomorrow. My stampings aren't as strong as the one on yours JD.
