My wife and I set off this morning at 3:45 a.m. CST to head over to the beautiful state of Michigan to the Allegan Antique show. We went last May and had a good time - found a couple things and enjoyed the gorgeous setting. Although I told my wife we were leaving at 3:30 we were delayed 15 minutes because of hair curling (not mine, I don't have much). We arrived at the show as the gates were opening and started walking around. There was a table with a couple of gloves right when we started so I sorted through them. One of the gloves was nice - a Goldsmith from the early/mid 1920's, nice patch on the back, smooth lining, a little dirty on the front but would have cleaned up. I glanced at the model number and noted that it was a G model. The guy had a listed price of $125 so I figured I could work on the price if I wanted to. I hate spending that much money on a glove while my wife is watching, plus I had a overwhelming urge to go pee, so we headed down the aisle, figuring we'd come back and look at it again. Well, we came back and it was gone. And now, looking at the Glove source catalog, I'm pretty sure I passed on a Christy Matthewson glove. DOH!!!! Oh well, I did get some nice gloves including this gorgeous Harry Heilman glove. The leather is super soft and super supple. The stampings are easy to read - it says HEILMAN MODEL and then has his facsimile underneath. There are no manufactuer markings but it looks like a Wilson. This glove was an absolute steal:

I also picked up a nice Bobby Doerr glove. I'm still trying to make out the manufacturer on this one. It is built like an OK MFG glove but it has a weird stamping in the palm area - looks like ...olds ....ersary. The glove is huge but the binding is gone. Nice signature stamping and inside leather is super soft:

In addition to these two gloves, I picked up a nice Harvey Kuenn Triple Lock Wilson glove - great patch, leather is clean, no ink. Needs to be relaced but that will be easy. Guy also had a Rawlings Brooks Robinson XFCB17 that he threw in for pretty much nothing. The leather is super soft - one of softest Rawlings gloves I've seen. It has no ink, nice tag but needs a relacing. Here is the Kuenn glove:

On the way home we managed to blow out a tire on my Hybrid. Luckily the tire store was open so I don't have to wait until tomorrow to get a new tire. It was an interesting day to say the least. I hope it wasn't a Matthewson that I passed on because we just found out we have to pay for my wife's summer pharmacy school tuition now because you can only take out so much during a year. That's what we get for her being smart and being in the acclerated program!
