2 Gloves in one! What should I do?

Postby Studboy » September 4th, 2011, 11:13 pm

Just picked this up today at an antique store for $8.00. Liner was shot & had lacing for the fingers added but the stamping was good & the price was right. Started cleaning it up & I see there is another identical glove inside of it. Any suggestions? It has both the front & back leather, there is another button for the wrist strap. What you think? I'm leaning twards taking it out but would like the forums thoughts first.

No suggestion as to what to do with it, but that's amazing!

A two-fer. I love it. I would totally leave it doubled up like that. It is truly unique. Great glove. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks JD, I'm gonna need Will Power! I'm so curious about pulling it apart but agree, it's really only a keeper because of the unique screw-up. I'll have to put it in a box & hide it.

A pregnant glove? Will you be delivering the offspring naturally or by C-section?
Hard to believe someone could fit one glove inside another like that.
Manufacturing defect?
I think you should leave it as is.

That is too strange!

When I was a kid, I first got the "collecting bug" with coins, then moved on to comic books. It isn't unheard of for a comic book to have been accidently produced with two covers. Being mass-produced on high speed presses, it's understandable how two sheets of paper might stick together before being stapled to the rest of the book.

Double-cover comics do bring a slight premium. And an unusual standard has evolved to handle grading these oddities. A grade is assigned to the better of the two covers (usually the inner one that's been protected from wear). Even if the outer cover is beat up, a book could still get a higher grade based on the condition of the inner cover.

But how the heck does this happen to a baseball glove, where each one is hand-made? It seems like it would be pretty obvious to someone making a glove that something was amiss! You would almost think that this had to be intentional.

Seems that model was prone to lining failures. :D

Cool glove!
