Swallow catcher's mitt

Postby lamont » July 24th, 2011, 9:29 pm

I have a catcher's mitt that my parents bought at a local Goodwill store about thirty years ago. We used it a lot when we were kids. A couple of years ago, I found it at my parents' house, and they said I could have it. The name on the heel of the glove is "Swallow Special". It has a small picture of a swallow above the name. Around the edge it has printed, "NO. 6188", in very large print. I thought I would try to find out more about it, but this has proven difficult. Does anyone know anything about this brand? I am starting to wonder if it might be Japanese.

Never heard of a Swallow Special before, sorry. Heard of a Schall Special. What era is it from? If you post pics we could at least tell you if it is Japanese or not.
