At the school I work at I held an after school collector meeting. Besides being a teacher, I'm also the GATE coordinator (Gifted and Talented Education) for my site. One of my responsiblities is providing after school activities for them (Sudoku, chess, Botany, Origami, Rocketry, etc.) and this month I decided to do a class on collecting. The 35 kids in attendance learned about the history of collecting, what people collect, collecting terms, and learned what each child collected. I shared with them some of my odds and ends from my collection and let them pound on a few gloves and try on a few helmets. Some kids flipped through the books I had (John G's, T 206 book w/ Brett's stuff and my uni, and Joe's catalog). It was a fun experience and the kids really could see that the equipment has come a long way.

That's very cool! You're a good man Mr. Anderson.

I hope you didn't let the kids put that noseguard on!

Very cool. Good to see some schools still have Gifted and talented programs running.
