Gloves

Some old and some new.

For you visual folks:

1. Black D&M with a patched palm. This one has a great feel and an even better look!

2. Black crescent catcher's mitt with a patched palm. This one is a nice BIG glove with a good feel. Hook and eye back.

3. Dazzy Vance Ken Wel fielder's glove with King Patent lacing. I picked this up in a trade and decided to use the holes (that were perfectly spaced) to add the lace. I doubt they were air vent holes.

4. Nice White Maruzen one inch web king patent fielder's glove. Finally got this back in a trade a few months back. Glad to have it back and cleaned.

5. Wright & Ditson crescent fielder's glove with hole/patch palm. The patch in the palm is half on, but looks great.

6. Coming soon. Patched palm black Reach Full web.

That is a very cool looking Vance, Ricky! I wish they would have shown more pictures of the backs of gloves in catalogs. I have a couple with odd constructions on the backs and I always wonder if they were original to the gloves or later modifications. 8) 8) 8) indeed.

That's because he hid them from you every time you went to his house. Next time look behind the curio. :D :D :D

I saw the Clampetts use that last glove in one of their series. Seriously though I love these patchwork, "fixed up" and reinforced gloves and mitts.

Won this mitt off ebay the other day. Was intrigued by the listing that said "denim liner". I knew from the photos posted that it was well used and the fact that the buckle strap was looped through the back of the mitt told me that it was a high quality mitt in its day. When it arrived I was suprised on the condition, sure it has a gnarly scar along the thumb seam and a lot of missing stitching, web, etc. A little cleaning and conditioning brought out the stamping it says Reach Professional model # 3BG and whoever relined this thing with scraps of denim did a real nice job. They even redid the finger stalls up in the glove with denim. It feels awesome on my hand. Great $11 mitt and I thought it belonged with Ricky's oddities. Half Reach Half Levi Strauss.

Cool MITT RDB!

That seam is pretty wild on that one! It reminds me of a mitt I had a long time ago. Nice model, but one of the oiliest sonofaguns I had. That oil smell was imbedded in that bad boy.

I have the same mitt. It's as hard as a hockey puck. Looks and smells like it was pulled from a tar pit.
