Here is a near mint Rawlings HH Harvey Haddix model that I picked up on ebay 2 weeks ago. It was poorly listed and I'm guessing it should have gone for a lot more. It has some minor ink on the back but it actually gives it even more character. Also, I noticed that the HOH logo does not have the R trademark. Does anyone know if this was the first year of HOH leather? And as a bonus, the glove lot also came with a near mint Reggie Jackson KM8 with super soft leather!

That is a beautiful HH! Looks like you have it's Spalding counterpart, too. Is that an HSP between them? Great gloves!

Thanks guys, I was excited about the condition of the HH. It definitely has never caught a ball. Here is a breakdown of the gloves in the display

I may be wrong but that HH looks like a re-issue, hence why its lacking the trademark. Also, I think the originals were stamped with silver in the palm:

You can't use the registered ® until the application for the mark is approved, that can sometimes take months or years. Anyone can use the ™ sign without federal approval or application. In this case, it may have been pending. I'm not sure when the HOH name/symbol was first put into use. This may very well be an early stamp.

Most cases, when silver is used, it is applied with heat and pressure. That's why you see a dark impression even when the silver is worn or cleaned away. In the 50's they were most likely still using silver or non-precious leaf which is not very durable. Anything less than a perfect stamp is likely to wear away to some degree.

I also have a Musial TG12 with the heart of the hide logo missing the registered trademark.



I hope the HH is not a reissue but either way it is the nicest glove I own. Is there really any way to be sure if it is a reissue??

My opinion is that your HH is not a reproduction. My well worn HSP doesn't have the registered trademark either and has the same style Rawlings patch and black stampings. I also have a Spalding 1141 Colavito PM (the HSP clone) with very black stampings that is listed in the 1959 catalog. My Spalding 1001 Pro Model (the HH clone) has foil stampings and is listed in the 1956 catalog. Just makes me think that they used the black stamping starting in the late 1950s and they made the HH as late as 1959 (ditto the HSP). Also, realistically, how many repros can possibly be out there? You've got a great glove and I'll bet it's the real deal!
