Questions for our panel

Most of the Rawlings gloves pictured (XPG ?) have something stamped across the outside thumb. I can't make it out even enlarging it, 3 or 4 words.

Right you are: "Edge U Cated Heel. Pat. # underneath, and 100% Nylon Sewn underneath that, all on the back side of thumb. Cluttered up the
thumb a bit. Took till the 69 catalog before Rawlings showed the back of
their gloves. Hmmm.
I have a funny story about glove stamping and thatparticular Rawlings feature. We were selling some Nokona replica Joe Jackson gloves and we used the old Nocona feature of "Greased Palm" alongside Jackson's name
in the pocket.
Well, I got a letter asking me was "that intended to show Jackson's
proclivity?"
The letter writer signed it, "An Educated Heel."
Love it.
