Spalding Joe Pignatano

I found this Spalding 1469 Joe Pignatano youth catchers mitt. Probably nothing to write home about, but I like old catchers mitts, and it’s kind of neat.

Give us the gate key. I have no gate key.
Fezzik, tear his arms off. Oh, you mean this gate key!

Catcher's mitts

Postby Tigerman » December 9th, 2008, 4:57 pm

I love picking up catcher's mitts. Recently, I was able to pick up a Joe Pignatano Signature model for my collection, too. I think mine was in better condiiton with very limited usage. Although, it was missing the extra black leather piece in the pocket area as shown on your photo. One of the things that I do after I get a signature model glove is to try to get the player's rookie card or an actual autographed card to attach to the glove. Obviously, depending on the player, the rookie card might not always be the most cost effective way to go. So sometimes, I just go with an inexpensive reproduction or a later card for the player. The card with autograph works nice because you can match up the facsimile signature with the real McCoy. It adds a nice touch to the glove for display and/or identification purposes.
