My dad and I made our way up to Brimfield this morning. We arrived about 5:45 a.m. and started our trek. We found some good leather today and enjoyed meeting glovers Bruce Wiley and Liam O'Bannion. The gloves we picked up today include:
1) 1940's Rawlings Professional Model catcher's mitt - The guy we bought this from said it came from the estate of one of the players from the Women's Baseball league - unfortunately he couldn't remember her name. Very high quality mitt, great tag - will clean up nice!
2) Wilson A2400 Catchers mitt - Top of the line glove that needs a little love but should turn out great.
3) MacGregor Ted Kluszewski "Big Klu" model G157. Mid-line glove in excellent shape - still has most of it's silver in stampings.
4) Wilson model A2052 Top Notch glove - for a LH thrower but high quality and good shape.
5) D&M Charles Red Ruffing buckle back - needs a little work but will be a nice display piece.
6) Wilson professional model 615 split finger glove - Super high quality - super soft leather! Great pick up
7) Ted Williams model made by Sport Centre, Inc. out of Hartford, CT - we were excited because this was made in CT and has a pretty neat tag - never seen this manufacturer before. Glove is decent quality - needs some conditioning.
Sonnett Havery Kuenn model JD5 - awesome glove in superb shape. This was a nice pick up from the collection of Bruce Wiley.
9) Wilson model 2101 Bob Allison - another pick up from Bruce - great glove!
I took pictures and will post them when I return to IL. Hope we have continued luck tomorrow.
Sorry we missed you Mike - next time!
