MacGregor MWM ?

Postby MVALZ » November 5th, 2006, 5:15 pm

Found an interesting MacGregor this morning. A Willie Mays MWM. Needs a little TLC, but the leather is quality. Feels good like my favorite Ashburn G22, but maybe a few years older..? Anyone know the MWM :?:

I've had a MacGregor Gus Bell that sounds similar to your Mays. It's a hinged glove probably late 1950s, early 60s. It's a Gus Bell, personal model, MPM and very well made, top of the line glove. I compared it to my Bell GC10 and it's smaller. Sold it to long time glover Ken Wolfe. Remember, at one time Bell's GC10 was at the top of the MacGregor glove line and Mays was right behind with his GC12.

Postby wareagle34 » June 20th, 2007, 1:20 pm

I HAVE A MWM MAYS GLOVE. LAST I HEARD IT WAS UNCATALOGED, PROBABLY FROM 1960 TO COMPETE WITH THE RAWLINGS MICKEY MANTLE PICTURE PALM MM LINE. HAVE YOU FOUND OUT ANYTHING ABOUT IT, AND HAS ANYONE ELSE CLAIMED TO HAVE ONE. YOURS IS THE ONLY ONE I HAVE HEARD OF BESIDES MINE.

MWM Mays

Postby swalt1234 » June 27th, 2007, 12:27 am

Hi I have a nice MWM Mays that I got about 1996 at a Cape Cod Flea Market. I since got it autographed by Mays at a Card Show. I've never seen a nice one on ebay. It has a strange group of high end features but is a mid-size 50's style glove. I always thought it is the best Mays I've seen, and much more comfortable that the later Personal Models.

MWM INFO?

Postby wareagle34 » June 30th, 2007, 5:14 pm

I GOT MY MWM IN THE MID 90'S, THERE WAS A PHOTO OF ONE IN THE GLOVE COLLECTOR NEWSLETTER AT THAT TIME WHICH SAID IT WAS BASICALLY UNCATALOGED. I TALKED TO JOE PHILLIPS AND HE SAID HE THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE AROUND 1960 WHEN IT WAS PRODUCED, BUT HE DIDN'T HAVE ANY INFORMATION ON IT. DOES ANYONE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE MWM PICTURE PALM. I'M CURIOUS AS TO HOW MANY ARE OUT THERE, IF YOU HAVE ONE LET US KNOW.
