help me identify this baseball please

hi all went to a boot fair yesterday and picked up this old baseball looked everywhere on the internet and couldent find any info its got on the ball:
wilson all star its got a signature on it but i cant read it the number on it is A1270 any one got any ideas of what years it was made or ay other info?>

Post a picture if you can. Wilson All Star baseballs were produced from the late 40's/early 50's until the 70's. None are particularly valuable, maybe $75 for the most desirable names in top condition. Most likely if you can post a picture, I or someone else, can tell you who it is. Cheers!

It's probably Tommy John.

Tommy was an All Star in 1968, 1978, 1979, 1980. Most likely a late 70's ball. Tommy John items don't have much collectible value. Maybe $10-15 if you find the right buyer on ebay.

Hi English Baseball Nut,
If you go to the Vintage Glove Pictures page, at the very top of the topic postings is a line that says: Sticky: How to post your glove pictures (or words to that effect). Brett has pretty easy to follow instructions therein. It took a couple of tries, but even I figured it out and I'm not very computer savvy. Photobucket is a good site for holding your pictures.

a bootfair is basically a very big yard sale usually held in a field with lots of people thanks for the heads up on the posting picturesd had a look and will give it a go later on

A further explanation of a boot sale. In Jolly olde England the boot of the car is as we refer to the trunk. People attend these sales, as we do a flea market and they sell out of the boots of their cars. I have attended many of these, especially in London. A funny way with words these British. Also, the hood of the car is the bonnet.

Ah, that makes sense. Moreso than our "flea market" (tho I wouldn't have been surprised if there actually were fleas at some I've been to). "The same people separated by a common language".
